Others negotiate ruthlessly with no real consideration for the long-term impact this may have on business relationships. Having a negotiation strategy and building confidence and skills in this area will ensure that you get the very best out of every negotiation you enter.

This workshop will provide you with just that. It is highly interactive and by the end of the two day workshop you will be fully equipped and confident in negotiating the best outcome possible.

Achieve win-win outcomes

Learn what makes a good negotiator and the difference between competitive and collaborative negotiation. Gain an understanding of the four possible outcomes of a negotiation and the short-term and long-term impact of each outcome. Consider your naural style and changes you may need to make.

Plan for negotiations

Recognise negotiaion as a process and how the process supports you in getting a positive outcome. Learn the key stages of a negotiation and take an in depth look at each stage - Planning, Opening, Proposal, Bargaining, Closing. Identify how to plan for a successful negotiation and how to consider your own position and the position of the person you are negotiating with.

Use trading techniques to get the best result

Explore what is meant by a variable, understand what your variables are and what you can and can’t negotiate on. Learn the rules of effective “trading", how to get what you want, how to be flexible without appearing to devalue your position and how to be clear on your boundaries. Gain some tactics on how to add value to your proposition without reducing price.

Close with confidence

Identify when you have reached deadlock and understand the right mind-set to overcome it. Learn steps you can take to get the negotiation back on track. Gain a selection of closing techniques to help you close with confidence.

Manage buyer’s tactics

Explore the classic buyer tactics that you are likely to encounter when negotiating and learn strategies to manage these tactics.
