Our Running Effective Meetings Training Course will enable you to run shorter meetings that always have a clear output. It will also give you some vital tools to help you keep your meetings focused and improve input from meeting attendees. You will learn about have to create an effective meeting agenda and will have the opportunity to gain feedback on one of your own agendas during the training. You will also learn how to handle some of the challenges of running meetings, including keeping them running on time and handling challenging attendees.

Write an effective meeting agenda

Understand the importance of having an effective meeting agenda and the impact of not having one. Learn what to include in a meeting agenda and gain some ideas on how best to lay it out. Discover how best to communicate the agenda to meeting attendees.

Plan clear defined meeting outcomes

Learn the difference between an agenda item and an agenda outcome and why getting this wrong will lead to unproductive meetings. Learn how to create clear meeting outcomes so that every agenda item reaches a conclusion with a clear output. Review a meeting agenda/outcome you have created for one of your own meetings, gain some feedback and make some amends.

Keep meetings running on time & on topic

Gain some simple yet highly effective tips and tricks to keep your meetings running on time and topic. Understand how best to handle late-comers and how to best manage the agenda and timings. Learn the principle of ground-rules, how best to establish ground-rules and how to stick to them. Consider some ground-rules that would be effective to put into place for your face-to-face, virtual and hybrid meetings.

Become an effective meeting facilitator

Learn what the role of the facilitator is by exploring the “Process-Content-People” framework. Consider your strengths and your development areas. Explore the use of questions as a crucial tool for facilitating meetings and understand which types of questions to use and which types to avoid.

Manage challenging attendees

Discover the different types of challenging attendees you may encounter when facilitating meetings and learn some strategies on how best to handle them. Identify some of the challenges that relate specifically to your meetings and consider which strategies you can use to overcome them.
